Eivind Ystrøm

Biography
Eivind Ystrom is professor of personality psychology and leader of the genetics research group at PROMENTA Research Center (GeoGen). His main research interest is gene-environment interplay for early life socioeconomic status and mental health development. This includes extended pedigree and molecular genetic studies on genetic transmission; how heritable traits in parents have effect on children, or “genetic nurture”; and how genetic effects varies over schools and neighbourhoods.
He is currently leading the ERC Consolidator project “The PsychoGeography of Intergenerational Mobility” and the Research Council of Norway FRIPRO project “Early Life SocioEconomic status, mental health, and educational performance: an evaluation of sensitivity to the environment (ELiSE)”. He is a partner in the ERC MSCA Doctoral Network “the European Social Science Genetics Network (ESSGN)” and the Nordforsk collaborative project “Post-Pandemic Vulnerability and Resilience (SISU)”.
The GeoGen team integrates national registries and large genotyped cohort studies to apply designs for separating direct and indirect genetic effects and uncover how heritable traits interacts with the environments in shaping children’s psychological development.
