Catatonia
Catatonia in children and adolescents is a complex neuropsychiatric syndrome characterised by motor, behavioural, and autonomic abnormalities. While historically associated with schizophrenia, catatonia in youth is now recognised to occur in various conditions, including mood disorders and medical illnesses. Early recognition and treatment of catatonia in young people is crucial, as it can be life-threatening if left untreated.
