Biography
Dr. Giorgia Michelini is a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Psychology at Queen Mary University of London. Since her PhD in Developmental Psychopathology and Neuroscience at King’s College London (awarded the 2018 Elsevier Outstanding Doctoral Thesis Prize and the 2018 British Psychological Society Neil O’Connor Prize), she has been researching the co-occurrence between neurodevelopmental and mental health conditions across development. Her current research seeks to understand why young people with neurodevelopmental conditions are at higher risk for experiencing mental health problems, and how to best detect, predict, and support co-occurring problems in this population. Her work integrates approaches from developmental psychopathology, aetiological research (e.g. genetics), transdiagnostic frameworks, and cognitive/affective neuroscience (particularly EEG). She also uses participatory approaches and actively collaborates with people with lived experience and charity organisations to co-produce research projects and increase the impact of her work.
