Dr. Simon Rice

Biography

Simon oversees the Movember Institute of Men’s Health which exists to accelerate men’s health knowledge, catalyse the men’s health sector and make a positive impact across men’s health outcomes. He is an Honorary Professorial Fellow at the University of Melbourne, and a recognised world-leader in men’s health research. Prior to joining Movember Simon founded the influential Young Men’s Mental Health Research Program at the Centre for Youth Mental Health, University of Melbourne, as well as co-founding the Elite Sport and Mental Health Research Program at Orygen, Melbourne. Simon has published over 330 scientific papers, served as Editor-in-Chief of Australian Psychologist (2020-2023), and has advised on the world’s largest longitudinal men’s health study – Australia’s Ten to Men Study. He’s consulted to major sports organisations and currently sits on the International Olympic Committee’s Expert Consensus Group on Elite Athlete Mental Health. Simon has worked as a Senior Clinical Psychologist in both acute and outpatient mental health settings, including programs for men’s military veterans and men’s forensic mental health.
